Valentine

The flu has been going around our house, and it is slowly taking us out, one by one. It started with Rob, who is convinced he picked up germs from Chuck E. Cheese. About 5 days later, Bo woke up with a high fever-victim #2. I had a very mild and short-lived version over the weekend (I like to think it's due to my mommy-immunity to sickness), and now Brooke is sick.

Most of my past week has been spent on the couch with a sick baby, but we did manage to pull ourselves together Friday afternoon and made Valentine's for Brooke's friends. She wanted to do most of the work, so we picked a simple craft-a homemade card tied to a nerds rope.

First, we cut tons of hearts using our cricut. She was excited to push the buttons and be in charge-this is the first time she's been allowed to try it out.
Next, we ran the hearts through the xyron with the adhesive cartridge-basically turned them into stickers.
Then she used the hearts to decorate the cards, that we had printed a greeting on. Bethany wanted to help, so she made sure the stickers were pressed down all the way.
She wrote each friend's name on the outside of the card, and Bethany helped keep track by marking off the names on the class list.
Ready to take to school for her friends. That evening was the school Valentine's Dance, and the little ladies were so excited! Bo was still sick, so Rob volunteered to take the girls. Here they are, showing off their freshly painted fingernails.
Ready to go!
Brooke found several of her new friends, and they spent the night running around together. I am happy that she has transitioned into her new school so well! Bethany was happy to meet some of Brooke's friends, too. She's been a bit lonely, so it was good for her to get out and have a fun evening.
On Monday, Brooke's teacher had Friendship Day activities in honor of Valentine's Day. Since it was just a 'fun day', I didn't feel bad pulling Brooke out of school for a few hours to visit Rob at work. His command hosted a family day, and we were able to tour part of his building and see some of what he does at work. Since it is all classified, we only saw a tiny portion of what goes on, but it was still really neat. The girls thought the best part was the snack table-cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, etc. We grabbed a quick lunch and then dropped Brooke off at school just in time for her Valentine party.

Not sure what happened to my comment! The dance pics look great but I'm not sure about Brooke and painted fingernails. Seems a bit too girly for her!
