First Week of School

Brooke has finished her first week at her new school, and she loves it! At the end of her first day, I asked if she had made any friends. She gave me a huge smile, and said, "Of course, 22 of them! And with me, we have 23 people in our class!". I am really enjoying our daily routine, especially the later start time. The first bell rings at 8:35, and since we are only a couple of streets away, we don't have to leave our house until 8:30 each morning. Since the kids are usually up by 6:30 at the latest, we have plenty of time to eat a good breakfast, get lunch together, clean the kitchen and play a little before leaving the house. Such a nice change from our usual frantic morning routine!
I asked Brooke to tell me her favorite things about her new school:

Rock wall in P.E., but it's a little scary the first time because you have to go across and the steps are high.

Math teacher is nice and teaches us a lot. (They have their main teacher, and then switch classes for math).

Computer Lab only has laptops to use, and I used one today!

Library is better here because you get to pick 2 books to take home! If you don't bring them back, you don't get to pick out anymore books.

Recess has 6 swings but it's kinda hard to swing by yourself because they are kinda high up.

Lunch is very loud.

Music is fun.

We had a pizza party today at lunch time and watched 101 Dalmatians.

I had NO homework for the first week!

Safety patrol, we don't really know what it is, but we see kids standing out with the crossing guards wearing safety patrol sashes. Brooke made one to wear around the house.
While Brooke was at school today, Bethany and I made pumpkin spice cookies. I'm sure we will be snacking on them during the Cotton Bowl, so we added a little Aggie team spirit with the icing.

It is freezing here, and they are saying we might get a little snow tonight or tomorrow. Bethany has already changed into her comfy (Aggie) pj's, but Brooke said she is keeping on her Aggie shirt for the game. I have spaghetti sauce and meatballs simmering on the stove, and we're hoping Rob is home early tonight. So far, he's been spending about 12 hours at work each day (and that is not including the time it takes him to do pt at home in the mornings).
Off to feed my hungry crew!
