Keeping Busy

It doesn't seem like it should already be the middle of July...this summer is flying by! Now that Brooke is recovered, we have been keeping busy. We have spent lots of time at the pool. There is a really great pool on base that the girls enjoy swimming at. It is a zero-entry pool on one side, with buckets and waterfalls to play under. The other side is about 4 feet deep, and Brooke is finally able to swim in that area with no life jacket!
Bo also loves to swim! He will lay on his belly (on top of my arms) and kick his little legs. He looks like a little motor boat, kicking around the pool! He usually gets tired and takes a nap in the shade, while I watch the girls play in the shallow end.
We have also spent a lot of time paying outside. Brooke made us a daily schedule (yes, she takes after me!) and every morning we have outside play in the front yard. After about 10:30 it is way too hot out for the kids, so we head out as soon as Bo goes down for his morning nap. Sometimes we fly kites, sometimes we skate or ride bikes. We almost always see our neighbors and their dog outside, and they are very sweet to let the girls cut fresh flowers off their rose bushes.
We have also spent time with family. Grandpa and Nana had all the cousins stay with them for a week this summer-they called it Cousin Camp. Brooke and Bethany didn't go this year (Brooke was still recovering), but they are already looking forward to next year. We went to Austin the last night of Cousin Camp so the girls could play, and they had a blast!
We spent the 4th of July in College Station, playing with even more cousins. We are so grateful to be back in Texas and close to family while the kids are young. Rob and I both grew up spending lots of time with our extended family, so it's fun to watch our kids make memories with their grandparents and cousins.
